European Automotive Industry Simulation Section 1 Initial key position and aims European Automotive Industry Simulation , p.88). The serious competition drives down the edges particularly for the little organizations. Introductory asset reviews The underlying speculation esteem for ABD is  £ 16, 310. 34 million and the complete capital utilized toward the beginning of the recreation remained at  £ 30, 054.30 million. Expected Strategic Direction for the following 5 reenacted years (choice periods) Statement of purpose The mission of ABD is to be the main supplier of sheer driving delight and wellbeing to Europe and past. The ABD brand joins dynamic execution and heavenly plan to the clients at generally reasonable costs. Generally speaking Target Markets and Strategy ABD engines targets for the most part the more youthful drivers and endeavors to give then fun, wellbeing, current innovation and structure. The organization depends intensely on notice as an advertising strategy in spite of the fact that it likewise allows the items to showcase themselves through quality and proficiency. Money related and Strategic Objectives All together for the ABD engines to build up and keep up a serious edge, it endeavors to limit its tasks through expanded nearby sourcing so as to infiltrate the European market. Regarding estimating the organization targets valuing its items seriously so as to pull in more clients.  Task Part 2 Strategy advancement and progress against your arrangement over the 5â to 6 reproduced years.  Your key investigation for each exchanging period â€, for example, changes in the large scale condition (PESTEL) and serious condition (counting any progressions to the ventures 5 powers and basic achievement factors just as to your company’s inner position).  â In the cycle 5 outcomes the organization delivered 1643 units of ABD LXY and afterward sold 3939 in a similar period. This suggests all the units created were sold along with some that stayed from the past round. The exhibition of this period on the model means that the organization neglected to deliver enough units of ABD LXY model as confirm by the zero units in stock. This could have been because of the 2296 units that stayed from the past period which provoked the organization to deliver less of a similar model. Despite the fact that this choice was halfway right, the organization ought to have laid designs for guaranteed creation of more units when they understood that the deals went up contrasted with the last exchanging period. Having zero units in stock isn't solid for the organization on the grounds that the irregularities underway reason superfluous bothers to the clients. Moreover, the piece of the pie for the model is 0.57% which is moderately low. For the ABD 400, the deals remained at 65714, and 29610 is still in stock. The piece of the overall industry remains at 1.26% which isn't bad.â ABD A5 all the units delivered were sold simply like in the past period as prove by the zero units in stock. The piece of the pie remains at 0.14% however the organization can in any case take it higher given that it may not be creating enough units for the market due to the zero units in stock. Lambooo model has numerous units in stock however the 1.51% piece of the overall industry demonstrates that the units were created in overabundance during the past period.â For the Skittles their case is fairly like that of ABD A5 despite the fact that the piece of the pie is higher than it by an edge of 0.01%. b. How your transient plans and key destinations/strategies have been balanced regarding the above changes to the outside condition and furthermore your company’s changing inward position  Operations techniques (limit, creation stock changes) The operational techniques of ABD are somehow or another distant from the truth on the ground as confirm by the zero units in stock for certain models and overabundance units of different models. This isn't useful for business as the overabundance units of certain models are tying up assets for different models, the organization should thusly put together its creation depending with respect to how first the product is moving so as to improve the general execution as far as consistency and effectiveness. Promoting system (4P’s) As far as the promoting procedure, the organization is delivering the correct items as confirm by the piece of the overall industry. The vehicle business has a solid rivalry particularly from the entrenched brands like Toyota, BMW, Honda and General Motors. Be that as it may, the organization ought to consider structuring new items so as to improve its money related execution. As far as estimating, the items are very much evaluated in light of the fact that there is no proof recommending that the cost of the models is influencing deals. Truth be told the costly models like ABD LXY and Lambooo performed generally well. The ABD LXY sold all the units though Lambooo was just second to ABD 400 as far as all out deals. As far as advancement the organization despite everything needs to do a ton of showcasing particularly for model ABD 400 which despite everything has a ton of units in stock. The equivalent ought to likewise be accomplished for Lamboo and the various models so as to improve their piece of the pie. On the last thing of showcasing procedure which is place, the organization should attempt to set up itself out of Europe by attempting different markets like different organizations. A worldwide methodology will give it a wide client base and in process empower it to profit by economies of scale. a. Monetary administration The organization needs more cash for the picked undertakings and still needs better monetary and vital designs for achievement in the short run. The monetary record shows that the organization has negative net current resources, negative net all out resources less current liabilities and a colossal bank overdraft.  The organization ought to hence create a greater amount of the well performing brands and decrease the less performing ones to raise the extra assets for reinvestment. b. Human Resources The group has a sufficient workforce that is skilled and productive. The workforce just had 3 days of strike which suggests that they are generally content with the details of the business and working conditions at the organization. The profitability record of 0.73 is likewise solid implying that the human asset division is working proficiently. c. Your changing corporate arrangement of items (SBU’s) For the most part, the organization settled on some vital choices planned for improving the presentation from the past period. These choices were productive for certain models like the ABD LXY yet some flopped shy of desires like the Lambooo. On account of the Lambooo the contenders figured out how to kill the plans of the organization as the brand neglected to proceed true to form.  Assignment Part 3 Final Report †A Reflective Portfolio The group finished with an end parity of  £ - 47009.05 million which isn't useful for the general wellbeing of the organization. This horrible showing is because of the enormous loss of  £ - 30,554.30 million endured by the organization. The benefit and misfortune account uncovers an issue with the evaluating of the last items, the deals remained at  £ 1694.44 million and the expense of deals is  £ 1386.34 million. For this situation the gross benefit is  £ 308.01 million which isn't sufficiently even to cover for the operational costs and still produce income for the organization. The suggestion here is that the value part of the promoting blend component has an issue. The expense of creation is exceptionally high and this is burdening intensely on the organization and on the off chance that the pattern continues, at that point this could even power the organization bankrupt over the long haul. The organization can take care of this issue by seeking after two methodologies either together or incompletely. The principal choice is to decrease the expense of creation through searching for various providers and selection of better innovation to diminish operational expenses. This will build the overall revenue for the organization. The other choice is to raise the cost of the last organization items. Be that as it may, on the grounds that raising the cost of the items may blowback as it might kill a few clients; it is fitting for the group to initially think about bringing down the expense of creation. 3.1 Description of your company’s victories and disappointments and your learning’s in actualizing your system against your set crucial/and plans as given to a limited extent one of your report. For the most part the results of the organization have been acknowledged by the shoppers as prove by the piece of the pie of the various models. The organization has figured out how to live to its statement of purpose, with the main issue presently being income age. This is the motivation behind why the administration now needs to approach with better monetary and vital plans that will guide the organization forward and begin producing colossal benefits like different organizations in the business. The principal conceivable technique is to decrease the expense of creation through utilizing better innovation or showing signs of improvement providers or even both if conceivable. 3.2 Include in your last report your appearance on this learning exercise This learning exercise has caused me to understand the substance of arranging and understanding the idea of the business before wandering into business. I have additionally discovered that on occasion things don't fill in as arranged and that it is consistently basic to audit choices so as to address botches and furthermore gain from the procedures utilized by the contenders as strategies for prevailing in the serious business condition.  3.3 company’s â€Å"end game† position (exchanging period 5), vital suggestions for the following five years for the Executive organization. The vital suggestion for the organization in the following five years is that it ought to convey methods of bringing down the expense of creation. It can do this through redistributing a portion of its activities to nations with lower expenses of work. This ought to be done couple with proficient and comprehensive advertising of the organization items so as to produce more deals. Moreover, the organization s

Shopping Online and Shipping to Canada

If youre on the Canadian side of the border and shopping online on American sites, hidden costs may catch you by surprise. There are things you should check before you give out your credit card number. First, ensure that the shopping site offers international shipping or at least shipping to Canada. Theres little more irritating than going through an online store, filling your shopping cart, and then discovering that the vendor doesnt ship outside the United States. Shipping Charges to Canada Good sites will list their shipping policies and procedures upfront, usually in the customer service or help sections. Shipping charges are determined by weight, size, distance, speed, and number of items. Read the details carefully. Dont forget to factor in the exchange rate for the shipping charges as well as for the cost of the merchandise. Even if the exchange rate is in your favor, your credit card company will likely add a charge for currency conversion. The shipping charges and methods of shipment, usually mail or courier, arent the total cost youll have to pay to get that package across the border. Youll also have to pay Canadian customs duties, taxes, and customs brokerage fees. Canadian Customs Duties Because of the North American Free Trade Agreement, Canadians dont have to pay duties on most American and Mexican manufactured items. But just because you buy an item from a U.S. store doesnt mean it was made in the United States; its possible it was imported into the United States first. If so, you may be charged duty when it comes into Canada. So check before you buy and if possible get something in writing from the online store in case the Canada Customs people decide to be particular. Duties on goods vary widely, depending on the product and the country where it was manufactured. In general, on goods ordered from a foreign retailer, there is no assessment unless Canada Customs can collect at least $1 in duties and taxes. If you have questions about Canada customs and duties, contact the Border Information Service during business hours and speak to an officer. Canadian Taxes Just about everything individuals import into Canada is subject to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 5 percent. The GST is calculated after customs duties have been applied. Youll also have to pay the applicable Canadian Provincial Sales Tax (PST) or Quebec Sales Tax (QST). The provincial retail sales tax rates vary between provinces, as do the goods and services to which the tax is applied and how the tax is applied. In Canadian provinces with a Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island), youll be charged the HST rather than the separate GST and provincial sales tax. Customs Brokers Fees Fees for customs brokers services can really surprise you. Courier companies and postal services use customs brokers to get packages processed through Canada Customs at the Canadian border. Fees for that service will be passed along to you. Canada Post is authorized to charge the recipient a handling fee of $5 for mail items and $8 for express mail items for collecting duties and taxes assessed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). If there is no duty or tax owed, they dont charge a fee. Customs brokers fees for courier companies vary but are usually much higher than the Canada Post fee. Some courier companies include the custom brokers fees in the courier service price, depending on the level of courier service you select. Others will add the customs brokers fees on top and youll have to pay those before you can get your parcel. If you select a courier service for shipping to Canada, check whether the level of service includes customs brokers fees. If it isnt mentioned on the online shopping site youre using, you can check the service guide on the individual courier company website or call the local number of the courier company to find out their policies on international shopping.

Privacy in the Workplace Essay - 1624 Words

Privacy in the Workplace In recent times our right to privacy has been under fire, particularly in the workplace. With the fear of terrorists in todays world, we have been willing to sacrifice some of our individual rights for the rights of a society as a whole. A majority of these changes have taken place since September 11, 2001, in an attempt to prevent future terrorist attacks. New legislation, such as the USA Patriot Act, which decreases the limitations on the federal governments ability to monitor people, has been created for this reason. Although new legislation may be instrumental in the defense of our national security, we must take a strong look at their effect and the effect of decreased privacy in the workplace.†¦show more content†¦Currently, employees have few privacy rights, especially while utilizing their employers communication systems. Essay on The Similarities Between Mason and Madison

Throughout American history, many individuals have made reforms to the government. However, significant actions done by George Mason and James Madison still impact society today with the Bill of Rights and the implementation of a ‘check and balance’ government system. George Mason and James Madison were both influential figures in the creation of the United States’ government structure with their oppositions to prejudiced governments. George Mason, a figure in American History who strongly advocated for individual freedoms and rights, strongly opposed the unjust actions committed by the British Parliament. The British government had been passing Acts against the will of the colonists, and Mason was upset by these actions. â€Å"that†¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"Hence it is that such democracies have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.† Madison says this because he believed that all people act according to their own local situations. According to Madison, people act in the name of their own selfish reasons, instead of considering the broader greater good. Thus, states should not be trusted to be the strongest part of the government, and factions should not be trusted with the majority of the power, either. George Mason strongly opposed Madison’s idea of a new national government. Mason thought that a federal government was unfair because it left less individual and state rights. His ideal government was one with a weak central government - the opposite of Madison’s. Mason preferred this, because when the central government is weak, the states assume most of the governmental power. Dilemmas of an Attorney Gina Boldt ADJ 235 March 22, 2013 John Ellison Ethical Dilemmas of an Attorney The three major ethical dilemmas faced by a defense attorney are client perjury, delivery of physical evidence and the disclosure of prior convictions (Boldt, 2013). They are bound to provide thieir client with courage and devotion (Pollock, 2012, 2010). This dilemma, at times, tries the attorneys personal morals and ethics, though, once again, the protection of the defendant overrules all. They must also refrain from taking any case that presents a conflict of interest with said client. Though there are times that plea bargaining is in the best interest of the defendant, this process can be misused as a conveinence, this would be an example of ethical conflict. Pulmonary Oedema in Contemporary †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Pulmonary Oedema in Contemporary. Answer: Introduction: In the given case study, information has been presented about a 72 year old patient named Giovanni who has been suffering from Chronic Heart Failure and presented to the Emergency department in the hospital with complaints of shortness of breath and a sensation of breathing. Management of chronic heart failure thus will be carried out (heartfoundation.org.au, 2017). His symptom of dyspnoea was not relived immediately. Further, it was seen that his breathlessness symptoms has been bothering him since quite long interfering with his activities of daily living. His swollen foot also posed problems for him in wearing shoes. Inquiring about his lifestyle revealed that he has been a smoker and is unable to maintain his diet and pursue proper exercise regime. Subsequent undertaking of diagnostic tests and assessments of vital parameters showed that he has acute manifestation of heart failure. Hence, the two nursing priorities at this hour should aim to address his distressed breathing and p roblems related to swollen foot effectively. Assessment of the patient carried out on admission to the emergency department revealed that he has been feeling out of breath and suffocated due to accelerated heart rate and respiratory rate. This feeling of puffiness and difficulty in performing the activities of daily living has been bothering him since the last few days as reported to the Registered Nurse by Giovanni himself. He admitted of being a chain smoker and assessment of his health record reveals that within 30 minutes of waking he resorts to smoking and the number of cigarettes smoked per day goes up to 20. Further he expressed his inability to curb this behavior and modifying his diet and exercise regime for a healthy lifestyle. He has already been diagnosed with chronic heart failure and has been under medications to tackle the condition as suggested by the physician. His chest X-ray examination is further suggestive of acute manifestation of chronic heart failure. Considering his age and in contrast to his height, he was found to be overweight and therefore is designated as being severely obese based on his calculated BMI (Sharma et al., 2015). Therefore proper planning in the form of nursing interventions is desirable to address the condition. The primary goal of such intervention will be to alleviate the symptoms of breathlessness and chest discomfort in the patient (Brake Jones, 2017). Proper lifestyle modification through curbing the rates of smoking and controlling the dietary and exercise pattern in the patient will ensure the success of the projected objectives of reliving the cardiorespiratory difficulties (Yancy et al., 2013). Empirical findings have suggested that smoking and unhealthy lifestyle in absence of adequate exercise and proper nutrition pose great threats to the onset as well as aggravation of the chronic heart failure conditions (Kotseva et al., 2016). Hence it is likely that the collective and individual interventions applied to the patients will pave the way for optimum and better outcomes in the patient without compromising on the health front. It is expected as part of the evaluation outcomes that the patient will express satisfaction on observance of the therapeutic interventions by means of less complaint of chest discomfort and improved mode of lifestyle through weight mitigation and abandoning the habit of smoking completely. Nursing Interventions The nursing intervention in connection to the lifestyle modification of the patient to treat his condition due to chronic heart failure must be addressed in a collaborative way with vital inputs from professionals across various related interdisciplinary domains (Lavie, Arena Franklin, 2016). Primarily the chest discomfort will be acted upon through proper medication as suggested by the physician. The preliminary recommendation for carrying out an effective healthy lifestyle will involve a healthy weight management through maintenance of a well balanced diet and doing regular exercise. A diet rich in vegetables, fruits and whole grains is considered good for cardiovascular functioning. Food low in carbohydrate and fat will be encouraged to take by the patient with adequate amount of protein. Foodstuffs containing higher amount of salts, solid fats, refined grains and added sugars must be strictly avoided. The cardiac rehabilitation team comprising of the nutritionist, exercise thera pist, physician, and nurse will all act in coalition to harbor positive outcomes for Giovanni. Expert guidance will be sought from the physical therapist to suggest suitable moderate intensity aerobic exercise pertinent to the patient to lend cardio-protective function (Ades et al., 2013). Further for abatement of the smoking habit in the patient transdermal nicotine patches will be used as smoking deterrent. It will act to provide low dosage of nicotine through acting by means of lessening the physical signs of withdrawal symptoms and aiding in quitting smoking (Ferguson et al., 2016). Salt consumption diet need to be strictly monitored and regulated further to optimize the outcomes. The registered nurse (RN) will keep a track of the patient progress and report to the attending doctor in a timely manner. Emphasis must be laid on being active and maintain a healthy diet to keep the symptoms at bay. Concomitant to the weight loss and dietary management improvement in the symptoms of breathlessness and others will follow in a cascade manner (Clark, Fonarow Horwich, 2014). Thus the lifestyle modification varied out with respect to effective cardiac rehabilitation procedure will ensure better results. The feeling of puffiness in the patient alongside associated symptoms of breathlessness and difficulty in doing ADLs due to physical exertion may be properly addressed by virtue of proper medicinal intervention by administering beta blocker drug such as atenolol as prescribed by the physician. Oral route of administration will be followed by giving 50 mg on a daily basis to the patient (davisplus.fadavis.com, 2017). The chest discomfort will be reduced by means of administering atenolol. The rapid heart rate will be reduced on taking this medicine. However care must be taken to observe for any adverse reaction or side effects. However it must be checked for food or lifestyle interactions. Consumption of large amount of orange juice must be prevented as it might decrease the effectiveness of atenolol. Interactions with drugs like that of lisinopril and furosemide that have been prescribed to the patient must be checked for any adverse reaction (Heusch et al., 2014). Thus reduction in the signs and symptoms of chronic heart failure will indirectly help in enhancing the QOL of the patient through improvement in hearty function. If symptoms including blurred vision, confusion, sweating, wheezing, anxiety, weight gain, nausea, diarrhea, trouble sleeping are noted in the patient then medication must be stopped and referral to the doctor must be made. The blood pressure, ECG and pulse must be monitored frequently in course of the dosage and adjustment period as well as periodically throughout the therapy. The intake and output ratios in addition to the weight also need to be checked routinely. Signs of toxicity and overdose must not be overlooked and prompt notification to the physician must be undertaken. Thus every effort must be made so that the patient complies with the prescribed medication allaying the possibility of any harm or side effects (DeJongh, Birkeland Brenner, 2015). Evaluation of the patient on admission to the hospital further brought to the forefront an issue relevant to the difficulty in wearing shoes due to swollen foot of the patient over the last couple of days. This report may be further corroborated with the revelation of pitting edema in both the limbs of the patient. The weakness of the heart in conjunction with the diminished blood flow accounts for fluid accumulation and retention in the lower region of the body in the limbs (Platz et al., 2015). Moreover the patient also complained that he faced issue while moving indoor at home and encountered much difficulty in motion. Results from the patient risk assessment further demonstrated that he has difficulty in normal functioning and is requiring assistance of a person in doing activities of daily living (ADL) such as that for dressing, bathing, eating, toileting, transfers and mobility. Moreover the factors that pose risks for fall in case of the patient were identified as his age over 65 years, weakness in the limbs, imbalance and gait problems. His restricted movements and inability to perform day to day tasks independently seemed to have rendered a psychological pressure in Giovanni as he has been reported to have mood swings encompassing feelings of moroseness, depression and hopelessness. Thus a referral to the psychological mentor and counselor is imperative to take care of his mental health status (Tully et al., 2015). Hence, both mental and physical health interventions will aid to improve his condition by resorting to appropriate measures. The short term goal in this context will be to improve the mobility of the patient by mitigating the symptoms of leg edema (Trayes et al., 2013). The patient must be able to walk independently and perform the ADL efficiently devoid of any support. Further his quality of living (QOL) is likely to be enhanced on following the measures in an appropriate manner and complying to the recommended medications or any other inte rventions effectively. The depressive mood symptoms are also expected to be mitigated upon proper therapeutic intervention. Nursing Interventions In case of chronic heart failure, pitting edema is a common complaint among the patients, and in this case this has lead to obstructing the ADL for the patient. Therefore efforts to reduce these symptoms so that he may get back to his normal living need to be reiterated. In an effort to manage the swelling of the foot compliance to proper medications is advised that need to be strictly supervised and given by the attending nursing professional as directed by the physician (davisplus.fadavis.com, 2017). In this context, the furosermide medicine as suggested by the physician to treat his existing heart failure condition may be applied. It will act by inhibiting the reabsorption of salts and cause excessive renal excretion of water through increased mobilization of excess fluid. Symptoms for any contraindications or adverse drug reactions must be closely observed and must be reported to the physician appropriately. The drug must be administered through the intravenous route in 40 mg dos age as prescribed by the physician in proper intervals. The fluid status of the patient must be assessed properly to direct the treatment modality (Ballester, et al., 2015). Blood pressure and pulse must be monitored both before and after administration. The monitoring of the renal and hepatic function also needs to be followed for evaluating the efficacy of the drug prescribed (Gaalema et al., 2017). Dose must not be missed under any circumstances to increase the efficiency of the action of the drug. Dehydration must be strictly avoided in course of the medication duration and the nurse must take measures to ensure that the patient is taking fluid in adequate quantity. The recommended dose of medication must be given carefully as overdose of furosemide may lead to irreversible hearing loss (Kelm et al., 2015). Thus furosemide may be applicable to ameliorate the symptoms of pitting edema that occurred as a side effect of chronic heart failure. The prevalence of pitting edema in the patient significantly restricted the mobility of the patient that indirectly impacted upon his mental health. His mental health status is marked by mood swings, feelings of hopelessness and depression. Thus in addition to taking low salt diet and avoidance in taking too much fluid, effective approaches must be followed for the sake of addressing his mental health concerns and in motivating him to lead a better life (McCleary et al., 2013). The non-pharmacologic therapeutic intervention has garnered significant attention in this regard to treat patients with such ailments (Ambrosy et al., 2013). However this motive cannot be achieved alone and the RN must take the help of a counselor to deal with the situation. The cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) may be resorted to for altering the pattern of thinking and behavior in the person to account for positive changes (Elliot et al., 2014). Research has found out that in conjunction with the relaxation exercises, CBT has the potential to alleviate the depressive symptom in the patients with chronic heart failure as part of the disease management programs (Lundgren, Andersson Johansson, 2015). The nurse attending the patient must work in collaboration with the attending psychological counselor to enhance the QOL in the concerned individual. In contrast to the usual care regime, CBT might be chosen as adjunct therapy to harbor positive outcomes with respect to interventions for treating depression alongside heart failure related self care (Freedland et al., 2015). Thus adopting these strategies and technique Giovanni is likely to be benefited showing stark improvements in his mobility as well as mood elevation. Reviewing and evaluating the information regarding the patients health status through utilization of the Clinical Reasoning Cycle it is evident that the projected interventions are likely to benefit the patient by means of enhancing his quality of living and ameliorating the symptoms that typically represent his acute manifestation of heart failure (Gruppen, 2017). The proper compliance to the therapeutic interventions in the form of medications and other appropriate techniques will ensure the harboring of optimum outcomes in the patient. Nursing skills will reach out to addressing his health both collaboratively and independently thereby paving the way for effective health outcomes. The severity of his symptoms pertaining to chronic heart failure will require him to undertake both short term and long term objectives to maintain a healthy life. The risk assessment carried out pertinent to the patient further provided future implications that need to be reconsidered in making prudent clinical decisions. References Ades, P. A., Keteyian, S. Cultural Infl uences On Cognitive Development Lev Essays

Cultural Infl uences On Cognitive Development: Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget are cited more often by his theories on cognitive development. Piaget emphasized four stages of development that occur throughout childhood until the child cognition reaches its end around the age of 15. Vygotsky, on the other hand, proposes a socio - cultural theory of cognitive development, in which the cognitive abilities of children evolve from interactions with the culture around them, such as parents, teachers and other partners. While Piaget emphasized cognitive development as an individual and universal process, Vygotsky emphasized that cognitive development varies between cultures and is largely the result of the interaction with culture. Better Understanding The Role Of Culture : To understand the role of culture in cognitive development, Vygotsky suggests that we study the cognitive development from four interrelated perspectives: the microgenetic , ontogenetic, phylogenetic and socio - historical. Microgenetic relates to development in short time periods, minutes and seconds. The ontogenetic refers to changes throughout life, whereas phylogenetic refers to changes over evolutionary periods. The socio - historical refers to changes that have occurred in the culture over time, such as changes in values, norms, traditions and technologies throughout the history of culture. Biological Principles : Vygotsky proposed that children come equipped with some important mental functions. These functions include memory, sensation, perception and attention. These basic mental functions then take advantage of the culture of which are subject, and culture transforms these functions into new higher mental processes or cognitive abilities. Social Influence: Early cognitive competence arises from interactions with adults and other relevant partners in the child's culture. Vygotsky cites as evidence the many tasks that a child must learn and are too complicated to assimilate in isolation, such as speaking a language. He proposes that most tasks are learned through the guidance and encouragement of the culture that surrounds the child. The cognitive development so influenced and shaped as participating in cultural activities and watch adults participating in them. Cultural Diversity and cognitive development : Belonging to a particular culture influences cognitive processes of people in various ways, some so subtle that they cannot be recognized at first glance. For example, several studies indicate that people in urban European American and middle-class communities tend to have more interactions in pairs (dyads) than in groups, while people of other cultural backgrounds displayed more often multiple, simultaneous participation and group. This is easily understood if we remember that in communities where the family is usually extensive, as is the case in most communities of Peru is common for infants and toddlers are cared for by several people other than parents, which gives these children varied opportunities to observe and participate in different groups and have multiple simultaneous interactions. In contrast, in industrialized communities where usually only the mother or another adult (the nanny, etc.) is responsible for the care of these children have few opportunities to participate in daily groups, either with adults or other children. These differences affect the process of care of individuals, as prepared as appropriate to pay attention to multiple stimuli at once, or only one. Research has also shown that children of industrialized cultural communities do not learn by observation above, unlike children in industrialized communities with high school and majority of those who learn primarily through verbal explanations. The educational level of the caregivers (usually the mother) affects how these structure their interactions with children: more educated mothers play with children assuming the role of "master" (play teaching), while mothers with less education assume this role in their games. In summary, i t is worthwhile to emphasize that these cultural differences and cognitive impact on children's schooling, which often requires one-for example employer or attentional learning from cultural heritages children whose habitual ways of paying attention and learning may be different . Upon recognition of cultural differences should address the diversity of a classroom not only on the theoretical level but above approach to classroom work, methodologies and pedagogical intervention strategies that recognize and respect these differences. The obligations of the carrier under a Bill of Lading are to properly Essay

The obligations of the carrier under a Bill of Lading are to properly and carefully, load, handle, stow, carry, keep, care for and discharge the goods car - Essay Example has a number of purposes among which is the evidence of the contract of carriage, statement of condition of goods received and whether the goods received match the contract description, document of transfer without transfer of ownership rights (N unes, T. 2004). Obligations of the carrier under the Bill of Lading include proper and careful loading, keeping and stowing of the goods received alongside with proper discharge of the goods on the board. While, undoubtedly, consideration should be given to human input, the present technological development and long industry experience significantly lower the possibility of human mistake during the transportation process. Crude oil is widely used as a source of energy alongside with production of plastics and manufacturing. As an item of strategic importance, crude oil has for a long time been an object of various political confrontations. The issue is rooted in supply and prices on the commodity: transportation infrastructure emerged in an attempt to satisfy the rising demand for crude oil and products made out of it. Crude oil is transported from production sites to refineries by water and by land. About 62% of all crude oil is shipped by means of maritime transportation: barges and tankers, the remaining part is moved mainly by pipelines, trucks, or trains. Thus, consideration should be given to the two major means used in the industry: oil tankers and pipelines (Hopkins, T. D. 1992). Safety of the commodity during transportation process largely depends on technological aspects of the cargoes used. Oil tankers are classified in accordance with their size: while coastal tankers can carry only about 50,000 tons of dead weight, ULCC are Ultra Large Crude Carriers and can transport over 300,000 of deadweight tons. Increase in size of tankers and, consequently, increase in the amount of chemicals transferred requires special security systems to be installed inside the tank to guarantee protection from oil spill. To what extent is deeper European integration in the national interest Essay

To what extent is deeper European integration in the national interest of Britain today - Essay Example In brief the different conceptions are: How does the term 'Europeanization' differ from 'European integration' This is a complex theoretical debate without a definite answer. My personal opinion is that European integration focuses on the process f institution building and political integration at the European level more so whereas, the phrase Europeanization is more all encompassing and is used to analyse the dynamics f European integration, how it occurs and more importantly how it impacts on the domestic politics f member states. Some academics believe that the two definitions are interchangeable and the term Europeanization should be scrapped so as to avoid further conceptual confusion. (Smith 2003, 14-16) I think all the five definitions have some relevance in helping to conceptualise the term but I particularly think that an analysis f 1) and 2) are the two most important elements to help understand the transformations currently taking place in the EU. Combined they provide a two way analysis; 'top down' and 'bottom up' allowing us to examine the interplay between the EU system and the British polity which is said to be "characterized by complex feedback loops". These loops reflect the complex interaction f global, European, national and sub-national processes. Similarly, I have conceptualised the Europeanization f UK politics as a two-way process with a slight emphasis on the downward causation from EU to domestic structure: "a process whereby domestic politics becomes increasingly subjected to European policy-making". This is a broad yet useful definition which can focus on the EU becoming part f the 'organisational logic' or administrative practices f the UK government (Evetts 1998, 438-440; Knill, 2001) and it can also include the informal rules, beliefs, paradigms, styles, ideologies and culture that infiltrate through to the member states. I will examine the extent to which this process has occurred and look at limiting factors such as globalisation and xenophobia. The domestic impact f European-level institutions The multitude f processes and mechanisms involved in EU development mean that member states are transformed differently across domestic institutions and policy areas. Policy issues There has been increased interest in European policy implementation over the course f the 1990's. Policy implementati

Coming of Age Essay Example for Free

Coming of Age Essay A coming of age experience can happen any time during ones life, most often when it is least expected. It is the thread that sews humanity together, a phenomenon, which is undeniable. Society tells us, it is a defining moment in a childs life, when the world somehow becomes his or her own. Why then is Coming of Age simply relegated to the young? We all experience this phenomenon, from the tender age of four till the ripe old age of ninety-four. It is not an experience based solely on chronological milestones. Coming of age is a defining moment when a persons wide-eyed nnocence is replaced with something deeper and at times something darker and more sinister, a snapshot in life when one realized the answer rests inside us, not relying completely on God. Consequently, in that way, we are always coming of age, always-losing innocence, gaining understanding, and always discovering new truths about ourselves, emotionally, and intellectually. Coming of age is the act of experiencing a definitive shift in ones perspective, a greater realization of ones place in the world, and a further understanding of how personal actions and reactions are ntegrally linked. Thats not fair was my signature quotation as a little girl. A life full of Barbies, tea parties, and several rounds of Go-Fish card games was very demanding for a five year old. I could only assume the world revolved around which Barbie I wanted to be, what frilly dress I wanted to wear, and my pristine skills of winning every round of Go-Fish. As a little princess, fairness was vital to what made me happy. When I was eight years old, the word fair took on a whole other meaning the day my mom and her best friend, Muffy, took my sister and me to lunch. As we at down at the table, Muffy, the mother of my best friend, Sam, hesitantly twisted the diamond protruding from her gold wedding band. We waited for our lunches in silence, my sister and I only knowing that they had something to tell us, but not knowing what. The silence was unbearable; waiting for something that must have no positive outcome was definitely, as I would term, unfair. After the waitress brought our food, my moms voice filled the intolerable silence. Unlike her usual motherly lectures, my moms voice seemed Just as excruciating as the previous silence; it was uncertain, unfamiliar, and distant. My mom has always been the woman that I admire and would hope to become. The smiles and love she has given to my sister and me have been unconditional and contagious. At the moment, the slightly tilted frown and the unfulfilled eye contact was not the woman that I knew as my mother. All I wish for was to read her mind, fgure out who she had become so that I could make everything better and change her back to the woman I see myself being one day. Muffy began with her understanding voice, a quality that she and my mother share, Emily and Peggy, I can see the concern on your faces and we are here to tell ou that Sam has cancer. He will be undergoing surgery next week and all I ask from you is to be as understanding, mature, and as helpful as possible. I know you are both strong and that it is going to be hard for all of us. My best friend, at eight years old, has cancer. I continued to repeat this in my mind. There was no He will be find or Everything will be taken car of. My mind was running with questions, How long has he had cancer? Will he have to undergo chemo? Will he lose all his hair? But unfair. Two years later Sam went through his third treatment. At this point we were told hat he was not going to make it and at that moment, as a young eight year old, I began to understand that lifes trials cannot be won like a game of go-fish. I began to understand that life is not fair because I did not understand why someone so caring and loving like Sam would be put through this. I do wish that fguring these things out at such a young age would not be as tortuous as my best friend getting cancer and passing away. However, for me, maturing at that age is accepting that the world does not revolved around me. That losing in a game of go-fish is not the end of the world and to treasure every day of life.

Women’s Health and Men’s Health magazine Essay -- Gender Roles

The Sourcebook on Violence against Women reports that 14.8% to 36.1% of women will experience sexual violence over their lifetime. They also cited studies that found that up to 26.4% of women have experienced intimate partner violence (Renzetti, Edleson, & Bergen, 2011). With roughly 1 in 4 women experiencing sexual violence or violence perpetrated by a partner, many scholars are looking to point fingers. There are several theories that have something to say on the issue. However, it is important to realize at the heart of all the theories is how they are played out in the everyday lives of men and women. The media is a portal to how children are socialized, what consumers purchase, and lifestyle choices people make (Tallim, J). There is little dispute that media outlets are thriving in America. Magazine sales net over $4.5 billion every year. Magazines are widely available to the general public. The Magazine Publishers of America found that 93% of American adults read magazines. The growth trend over the last five years shows that next to the internet, magazines show the most growth in media usage (Magazine Publishers of America & International Periodical Distributors Association, 2010). Most of the public would agree that the American culture has become hypersexualized. Feona Attwood goes as far as calling the transformation a â€Å"‘pornographication’ of mainstream media†¦ [with] women increasingly targeted† (Attwood, 2005). There have been some efforts to combat this by encouraging the empowerment of women but results are still forthcoming. A comparison between the Men’s Health and Women’s Health magazine, owned by the same company, shows how media portrays men and women and perpetuates a violent, sexual culture that cultivates v... ...through the abuse that it teaches men is ok to perpetrate. Media is a powerful source of information for people of all ages. Consumers spend $86 million on magazines a week (Magazine Publishers of America & International Periodical Distributors Association, 2010). Media outlets should be working towards restructuring how boys and girls are socialized and the gender roles for men and women. Magazines should focus on empowering women rather than showing them scantily clad as sex objects. Not every article in Men’s Health and Women’s Health follows the stereotypes and enables violence or the objectification of women; however, the articles that do perpetuate violence far outweigh those that set a good example for men and women. Men’s Health and Women’s Health need to step up and learn to empower women instead of leaving them vulnerable to intimate partner abuse.

Academic Ethics And Ethical Procedures - 906 Words

The purpose of this paper is to address the issues surrounding Academic Integrity and ethical procedures as they relate to students, scholarly research and practice. We will take a look at the viewpoints of two articles that tackle this issue. When I think about the word â€Å"ethics†, morals and doing the right thing comes to mind. In life, there is a constant struggle between making good and bad choices, especially if the choice you choose can make or break your career. In the first article, Aaron Roche, (2012-2013) highlight several levels of academic dishonesty being displayed and the repercussions that followed as a result. Together Aaron and Roche, try to identify where academic dishonesty can begin and how society plays a major role in its flourish. From an early age we are taught to be competitive and to always strive to be the best at what we do, at least that’s what most parents expect from their children. There is an enormous amount of pressure placed on chi ldren in the elementary and high school grades to achieve high scores on standardized test. Unfortunately this type of pressure if continued can lead to cheating on the collegiate level (Schellenbarger, 2013). Academic dishonesty or â€Å"cheating†, has become a common standard amongst specialized high schoolers and prep school students.
